Mae Jemison Inspired DIY Rocket Launch Challenge
· 11:00 AM–12:00 PM
Blast off with Mae Jemison! Discover her inspiring journey to space while building and testing a stomp rocket and a straw rocket in this Black History Month Program. Get ready to think like a scientist and launch like an engineer! Discover the inspiring story of Mae Jemison, the first Black woman to travel to space, and learn how her curiosity and determination changed history. Then put your own engineering skills to the test by building two different rockets—a stomp rocket and a straw rocket. Launch them, compare how they fly, and explore the science of force, air pressure, and flight. Which rocket will soar the furthest? Which will be the most accurate? Join us for an action-packed STEM adventure that's out of this world! Space is limited; register in advance to reserve your spot and receive reminders. Registration will guarantee your seat until the event begins. Accessibility needs? Please contact ask@acpl.info as soon as possible - we’d love to help.
