Christmas Tree and Angel Luminary Pottery Workshop - Elkhart, IN

Get in the holiday spirit by creating delightful Christmas tree and angel luminaries out of clay with an instructor from the Elkhart Art League https://ealonline.org/ ! This course takes place on two separate Saturdays, November 7 and 21, both beginning at 10:15 a.m. When you sign up, you are in both sessions! All supplies are included in the workshop price. Dress comfortably and expect to get your hands dirty. Bring an apron from home if you like. Session 1: Learn foundational slab-building techniques to construct three unique pieces: one large luminary Christmas tree (perfect for tea lights) and two smaller trees or angels. You cut, shape, and join clay slabs, add textures and pierce your luminary to let the light shine through. Session 2: Bring your fired pieces to life with color. After your trees and angels have been bisque-fired, you’ll return to apply professional ceramic glazes. You can go for classic green trees and white angels or get creative with speckled or stained finishes. Your masterpieces will be fired one last time and ready for pickup 7–10 days after the final class just in time for holiday decorating or gift-giving! No previous clay experience is required, as an instructor guides you through every step of the hand-building and glazing process. The classes take place in the Great Hall inside the Wellfield Visitors Center. Registration is required; space is limited! This workshop is non-refundable.
