Neurodivergent Teen Hangout

· 2:00 PM–3:30 PM

Stuffed Animal Surgery Grades 7-12: Hang out and meet other neurodiverse teens during this inclusive and sensory-friendly program. Each month will have a different activity! Does your stuffed animal need a bit of a pick-me-up? Perhaps those paws and tails aren't looking so spiffy anymore? Come and learn how to give your friend a fun makeover. We'll learn to add patches, embroidered details, weighted materials, and even scent sachets. Patrons will need to bring their own stuffed animal(s) (or the stuffed animal of a sibling or other loved one, with permission). All other supplies are provided. Limited to 8 participants. This program provides a supportive and inclusive environment for teens to connect with others who understand their unique experiences and challenges. We provide a low-sensory environment and can accommodate different needs and preferences to ensure that everyone can participate and feel comfortable. From game nights and crafts to movie nights and book discussions, this program offers a range of activities that cater to different interests, needs, and abilities. Whether you are autistic, have ADHD, sensory sensitivities, an intellectual disability, or any other neurodivergent condition, you are invited to join in! Caregivers are not required to stay in the room but should stay in the library to be available if needed. This program is intended for 7th-12th Grade. Space is limited; register in advance to reserve your spot and receive reminders. Registration will guarantee your seat until the event begins. Accessibility needs? Please contact ask@acpl.info as soon as possible - we'd love to help.
